Unaware of the danger that faced War-Forged we threw the rope up to Altera. She took a grip of it and the first of us, Nev, climbed up to the roof. Just as he reached the top we began to hear the muffled sounds of steel crashing against steel from within the structure. Now we began to hurry. Toryil was up the rope as quickly as he could and as soon as he was at the top I grabbed hold. I was about to climb up when I noticed that, with the others clustered around the edge of the roof there was nowhere for me to climb too. Before I could point this out I saw Altera pass the rope to Toryil and, drawing her short-sword, moved out of my line of sight. Seeing a gap I began to climb as fast as I could. As I ascended I heard more clashes from with the building and by the time I had reached the top Nev had also moved away from the roof's edge to join Altera in peering through the hole in the roof. As I moved up to join them I was vaguely aware to Toryil walking the rope to one of the corners of the roof to give Fraiya more room to climb up to.
Dropping into a crouch I looked through the hole. The scene below was illuminated by Nev's lantern that he had placed as close to the breach as he dared while he pulled out his crossbow. Below me I could see the dark shape of War-Forged facing off against two large, metallic dogs. They were fearsome looking constructs; the bodies were forged of black steel and everything was angles and razor-sharp edges. Their eyes were inverted Vs of red light and, while they mimicked the mo
